Grooming Issues

Occasionally a customer will call the store and lambast me for having a dog-centric website and marketing material.

I think it's pretty clear that we provide grooming services for cats, but obviously some cat owners don't agree.

If At First You Don't Succeed, Try And Try Again.

At Best In Show Grooming Salon, our goal is to have every client leave our store happy and completely satisfied with the groom their dog or cat received.  In fact, we want them to be more than satisfied, we want them to be so blown away, they become lifelong customers...coming back on a regular basis, and recommending Best In Show to others.

However, we know that doesn't always happen.  Being in the service industry, we''ve quickly learned that while we strive to please everyone, it is virtually impossible to make everyone happy every time.

Should Dogs Get Groomed in Winter?

Unequivocally, yes!

For several reasons, the grooming business takes a nosedive during the winter.  The number one reason (in my opinion) is the reluctance of most dog owners to get their dog's hair shaved off during the cold weather.

Unfortunately for us, not only does this mean a drop in business, but come Spring, we are overrun by overgrown dogs.

During the Spring and Summer months, most of our clients like the "Summer Cut"...basically, a very low haircut on the body and legs of their dogs.

No Shows - the bane of all appointment-based businesses

No Shows. This is the term I use for clients who call us, schedule an appointment, and then don't honor their appointment.  And by "honor their appointment", I mean show up with a dog or cat. To add insult to injury, these No Shows do not call, email or otherwise reach out to us to let us know they will not be coming in.

When they don't show up for their appointment, I will call their contact number.  Sometimes the phone rings and then goes to voicemail. Other times, it immediately goes to voicemail.
